I love fall! I love the crispness of the air, how the leaves turn to fire and all the new flavors and smells the season brings. In San Diego we don't experience the same changing of season that other parts of the country experience but we can full heartedly embrace the yummy flavors and smells! I have already purchased my annual pumpkin candle and am filling my house with it's yummy aroma! Part of why I think I love fall is it hints to the beginning of the holiday season! I love how long we get to celebrate fall! Maybe most don't start quite this early but starting now I can leave my yummy pumpkin candle out for almost two months! Last week Andrew brought home a copy of the October issue of Country Living. He begins by telling me how he bought it for me because he thought I would enjoy it he knows I like doing crafty things as my schedule and creativity allow and the issue had some fun craft ideas. Wow honey that is so thoughtful of you! Then he goes on to say oh and there is a REALLY YUMMY looking cake on the front cover! Do you think "we" could make it? Oh sweet husband I will make the cake for you thank you for the magazine I say as I giggle inside by how clever he thought he was starting off by mentioning the crafts! I don't think I have ever made a cake from scratch so this was a new adventure for me and one that ended up overtaking my kitchen and evening. It was a pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon whip cream frosting and I did learn one thing for sure I love whip cream frosting! That was the least time consuming of this entire cake process and my favorite part! I will only make whip cream frosting from now on! It is so light and fluffy and now overly sweet! I am a believer! So with all the effort involved I decided it was post worthy!

Paper loving puppy
How funny is this! Lucy LOVES LOVES paper! When I open the mail she sits patiently and stares at me with hopeful eyes that I might just maybe if she is lucky drop an envelope! It cracks me up that of all her toys she gets the most excited about maybe getting paper!! On top of all the paper fun Andrew and I are so happy because we think she is totally potty trained now! We think meaning we are going on week three of no accidents! Which puts me even closer to the day I can schedule my carpet shampoo appt! I feel like the whole atmosphere in our house has changed we aren't paranoid all the time asking each other who is watching Lucy! Now we are working on getting her to ring the bell on the back door to let us know she has to go out! We will see how we do:)
This is Lucy just tonight as I was opening the mail sitting so hopefully!

Big Bear Getaway
This weekend Andrew and I packed up our bags and our puppy and headed up to Big Bear Mountain! Kyle's parent's opened up their cabin to us and Kyle, Alissa, Andrew, Lucy and I drove up for a weekend of serious relaxing! We slept in and took naps and enjoyed the slower pace of the lake. Andrew, Lucy and I went on a few lazy walks one of which included collecting giant pine cones! I have a project in mind:) We went bowling at the bowling barn, hot tubbed while watching the stars come out, cooked yummy meals and enjoyed breathing the fresh pine air! While hot tubbing we actually saw the Milky Way! You don't see that many stars when you live so close to the city and you certainly don't see the Milky Way! We are wishing we were still up there it reminded us so much of Oregon and Sunriver! Here are some pictures from our weekend. . .

Mac Puppy
Andrew's parents were down this weekend and generously purchased us a new MAC!! We love it! We love the graphics, the fact that it has a webcam and can talk to family and everything else it can do (most of which we are still figuring out) and it will be great for Andrew to have as he tackles mastering all the drafting programs. So I think Lucy decided that she is part of the MAC family too:)

Labor Day Weekend
Some fun pics from labor day weekend! Andrew's parents were visiting for the weekend so we were busy playing most of the weekend!

Andrew's cousin's super cute boys at our pool! Who knew pouring water out of a pail could be so entertaining!?

This is James showing me his snake!

Jeff is showing Andrew's dad his crocs that have snakes and lizards on them!

After we took Andrew's parents to the airport we went to a friends house to BBQ . . . well it was 100 degrees outside today and our friends don't have AC so Julia put wet rags in the freezer and we put them around our necks to keep cool! It was so funny we had to take a picture! As soon as we finished eating we all came back to our apartment with AC and played catchphrase!

We took Lucy with us and she made friends with Adam and Julia's dogs Sam and Murphy! They were so cute! We tried to get them all to pose but that was a bit tricky as they kept trying to jump off the couch!
