A little bit of this and that

We have been pretty much just doing the work and school and keeping up with life thing! Nothing too exciting! Maybe a frozen yogurt date here and there. We did have some friends over to watch the Chargers game last Sunday. Too bad they lost:( Maybe next year Charger fans!

Of course I had to post my snuggle pup! She has been bonding so much to Andrew since he has been around more and it's so cute!
Andrew and Lucy snuggling. If you look close you will see he has given up on the whole shaving thing for a bit. Oh and a peek at our new sectional:)
OOH I got my hair cut last week thanks to my friend Julia! Quite a bit cut off too if you notice how long my hair had gotten in previous posts!
I guess that is all for now! I'm off to clean my house and maybe make some of these. Happy Saturday!

WARNING MOVIE SPOILER!

I am not recommending this movie but just in case you want to see it you have been warned:)
Andrew and I rented this movie Griffin & Phoenix last night. See the front cover " A store about life and love." Oh how sweet lets totally rent this movie! Just in case I check the back cover: When his life takes an unexpected turn, workaholic divorce' Griffin decides to focus on the good, instead of the bad, and plans to enjoy his time to the fullest. ( I suppose that was a bit of foreshadowing I could have played closer attention to). Soon he meets Phoenix a beautiful loner who appears determined to avoid relationships and fun at any cost. But the chemistry between Griffin and Phoenix is undeniable and when the two discover they share the same secret, they find not only comfort in each other's arms, but also unexpected happiness in every moment they spend together.

Ok so now as I am re-reading this back cover I am noticing a few signs I should have payed closer attention to but nowhere on this movie cover did it mention that his unexpected turn is that he finds out he is dying from cancer in scene one!!! Neither did it mention that we would find out midway through the movie that she is also dying from cancer!!! And she has ovarian cancer and aside from the fact that she would never be able to raise children she can't have children. So the entire movie is about doing things they have always wanted to do like jump a freight train and go para-sailing. Then when they are not in an adventure it is the same sad scene where they love each other but they know they have no chance of a future together. The entire movie I should say is under this blanket of reality that thy are both dying. Needless to say I cried about five times in this movie and Andrew said next time he is picking the movie!

I can't stop!

Are these not super sweet! I love them! I will have to come up with some baby boy ones but for now the baby girl ones are just so much fun to embellish! This particular pair are for Andrew's cousin Laura who is due this coming April.
I enjoy having little projects as they are always so gratifying. It is nice to have some hand sewing projects so I can work on them while relaxing on the couch.

This was the sunset last night as I left the office. Since I drive west to go home I got to enjoy it the whole way! Sunsets make me feel so warm and peaceful inside. God is so creative and I love drinking it in!

Welcome to the world Colin Nicholas DeYoung!

Friday morning before Andrew and I hit the road we drove up to Portland to visit Nick & Annie and to meet the newest member of their family. He was so precious and so new!

The proud and exhausted new daddy.
He was so little!

25th Wedding Anniversary

Today is my parents official 25th Wedding Anniversary! I am so blessed to be their daughter and to have been a witness to their marriage as they have purposed to live in unity and love us and love each other. I never grew up in a "don't tell your dad" or "don't tell your mom" family and certainly didn't appreciated it growing up but looking back now I realize how much security that created for my siblings and I. A couple of days ago we threw them a surprise party to commemorate this milestone! We gave them their invitation on Christmas so they would have a little warning.

Here is a picture of them opening their invitation. They are still not sure what is going on.
Here it is starting to set in. You are doing what?!
The spread. Yummy yummy!
My grandma made them a cake. Didn't she do a great job! Apparently the story goes that my mom really wanted a lemon cake at her wedding and it was the one cake that didn't get eaten! So the top layer of the cake is lemon and we all ate some this time! They had blues in their original wedding colors so we tried to incorporate that a bit.
Kelly and I posing with our hard work!Daniel has been working on a slide show for months. Which was not easy living at home! He also transfered their wedding video to DVD so we had that playing on a laptop in the living room. She really had no idea!
The original dress!!!
They renewed their vows.
Prayed over their marriage and whatever the Lord has in store for them and this next phase of their marriage!
They cut the cake! With the knife they used at their wedding no less!

We love you mom and Dad!! Happy Anniversary!
