It has been

one of those days where Audra refuses to nap unless it is like this:
which just means lots of couch time for me!

This next picture was yesterday when she was waking up from her nap and still feeling a little sleepy.
Then she woke up!!!!

Yellow Dress remix!

I took my mom's suggestion of adding on a ruffle so she could wear it as a dress! It had just turned out too short to be anything other than a shirt before.
12 weeks old today!

Mother's Day!

I had a beautiful first mother's day filled with some of my favorite things!

First of all I had a beautiful baby girl to hold. She is of course the reason I got to celebrate mother's day this year!

I made her this little dress that ended up being more of a shirt since it turned out shorter than I expected. I guess that's what happens when you don't have a pattern. Working on making some adjustments today!

My hubby made me crepes for breakfast, so yummy! Then we headed out the door for church! It was a great service and all the mommies got a long stemmed rose!
When we got home from church my hubby got me these beauties and a sweet card. I fed Audra and then ran out to get a pedicure while Andrew took care of Audra.
Oh sweet bliss to have painted toes! I love pedicures so much and it was so relaxing I almost fell asleep during it! Seriously the best use of $20 I can think of! An hour of getting my feet massaged and pampered while sitting in a massage chair!
The only thing that would have made it a better mother's day is if I could have had my mom with me getting a pedicure too!

To all my mama friends ...

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .

Talking to her Smiley Face Star!

Did I tell you she LOVES this or what!?

Also Audra had her first Dr. appt today and she is now 9lbs 13 oz and 23 inches long! She has gained a little over a pound in the last three weeks and grown another inch and a half! The Dr. remarked at how strong she was! She has even turned from her tummy to her back a couple of times, which we know is the easy part but still quite a feat for such a young baby. She loves to coo and smile and eat and sleep. Most nights she will sleep for 10 hours only waking up once to eat. She pretty much hates tummy time unless it is on my tummy. She is a super snuggler and loves to take naps on Andrew and I. We love watching our girl grow and seeing her discover new things! I consider it such a joy and a priviledge to be her mommy!

Toys, Sitting up, and Hikes

So I finally went to Babies r us this week and cashed in some gift cards to get Audra this Baby Einstein gym and she LOVES it! There is a big smiley face star at the top (like those tshirts people used to wear) and she smiles at it an talks to it! It is so fun to watch her and it cracks Andrew and I up that she lays there and talks to it! They say faces are babies favorite toys so maybe that is why she loves it so much?!

I ended up returning the Bumbo because it was pink and really what if we have a boy next? Not that we are thinking next yet or anything but I know we aren't done having kids! So they were completely out of Bumbos and I saw these Bebe Pods which were marked down so it was the same price as the Bumbo and it came with the tray and a toy and in red which is a great gender neutral color! I'm glad she is so strong and able to hold her head up since she basically hates tummy time unless it is on my tummy! Gotta love my little snuggler! :)

So she can hits the toy and spins it and I'm not sure if it is on purpose or if it is just because she has wild hands! These were taken yesterday but today she is 11 weeks old! Or about two and a half months. Not sure when we will make the week to month transition? :) We can't wait for our trip to Oregon in a few weeks! I was totally crying yesterday thinking about how she is getting so big and my brother hasn't even met her yet. Her own uncle! At least I know we have two trips on the calendar now!
Went on a hike this morning and it was beautiful! It feels so good to not be pregnant and to have energy to hike again!

Quiet Saturday, Catch up & of course the girl!

Today we have just been laying low aside from a quick trip to Costco! I have been sewing a little, made a chicken pot pie for dinner, watched Bride Wars and now Andrew is watching basketball and I guess I am watching by default. He would probably say he watched Bride Wars by default. :) Super cute movie by the way I totally teared up at the end.

Decorated this little onesie for Audra and don't think I will make another one. First of all sewing on a onesie is next to impossible and second sewing fabric that is cut on a curve is tricky! I think it turned out really cute so I guess it was worth the effort although I got the idea from one I saw at gap so I could have just bought it too! But this was made with love right? :)

Got a healthy chicken pot pie recipe from Andrew's Aunt Kate and decided to try it today since my man loves his pot pie!

Seriously sometimes I feel like all we do is sit around talking about how cute we think our baby girl is and how we still can't believe she is actually here! Is that normal? I guess it is safe to say we are completely head over heals!

While my mom was staying with us after Audra was born she discovered a dog park a few blocks away so we took Lucy there the other day and she loved it of course! I loved it to because it was a great up hill work out! We live below those condos you see in the background.
Such a happy pup!
